Johnson City man assaulted woman then stole her purse, according to police

A Johnson City man, accused of assaulting a woman, then stealing her purse, spent the rest of his weekend in jail.

Johnson City police tell News Channel 11, Wesley Porter, 31, approached a woman on Market Street around 6:40 P.M., Saturday. That's when the victim said Porter punched her in the face, threw to the ground, causing a partial to be knocked out of her mouth.

The victim was treated for her injuries at the scene and then released.

According to police, Porter developed as a suspect and was then arrested and charged with Robbery and Theft of Property Under $500.

Porter was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and is being held on a $26,000 bond.

Porter is scheduled for court Monday at 9:00 A.M.
