The South AtlanticMedical Association

The South AtlanticMedical Association motto is "We Care For You". The association ofAfrican American doctors was formed in 1892 by four African AmericanPhysicians: Dr. T. James Davis, Dr. Cornelius McKane, Dr. S. C. Snelson, andDr. C. Bryan Whaley. They organized for the advancement of medical science tobenefit African American patients in Savannah and achieve access to the GeorgiaInfirmary Hospital equal to Caucasian physicians. The members of the SouthAtlantic Medical Association would help create the Georgia State MedicalAssociation in 1893. Two current leaders of the association are. Dr. ErickaRussell-Petty and Dr. Nkenge Jackson.
