School Make Up Days Round Up

Posted: Updated:
Several school systems have finally announced make up days for students and teachers for days missed during inclement weather. Here's a list of some of the plans put in place:

Beaufort County Schools
Officials have decided to delay making a decision until the Board of Education meets on Monday, February 24. No new schedule will go into effect until March 3.

Craven County Schools
No new days or changes will be added to the system's calendar. F
ortunately, when the calendar was developed for the 2013-2014 school year the District Calendar Committee based it on the number of instructional hours required by law. The law requires a minimum of 1,025 hours. With the 2 days missed this month the district will have 1,037.5 hours of instructional time which is more than the minimum the state requires. Craven County Schools will use the additional hours built into the calendar for the snow days in February so no additional make up days will be needed.

Onslow County Schools
School officials have decided to use two early release days to make up for days missed during the winter storm. March 12 and April 9, will now be full days instead of half days.

Northwoods Elementary School will use its early release day on April 30 as their make up day. The day will now be a full instructional day.
