Water restored for students on College Hill

Posted: Updated:
East Carolina University officials say water service has been fully restored to residence and a dining hall on College Hill drive after damage occurred Friday night during demolition of Belk dorm.

Greenville Utilities and ECU crews completed repairs to water lines at approximately 11:15 Friday night, according to Bill Bagnell, the associate vice chancellor for campus operations.

ECU workers began the process of bleeding smaller lines and restoring full service after the line was repaired.

The water service was affected after crews for a demolition contractor damaged main lines on College Hill around 6:15 Friday night. Water was restored to approximately 1,000 of the 2,300 students who live on College Hill at around 8 p.m.

The outage continued for an additional 1,400 students who live in Scott and Aycock residence halls and for Todd Dining hall. Student’s were quickly notified about the outage through university e-mail. Normal operations were reported Saturday morning. ECU officials are continuing to look into the incident.
