Witness to Bradenton self-defense shooting speaks out

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - Manatee County Sheriff’s investigators are looking into a deadly shooting as self-defense.

Kerson Edmond was shot and killed around 2 a.m. Sunday morning at a home in the 3500 block of 30th Lane E. in Bradenton.

According to investigators, Edmond came to the home and began beating a woman in the house while armed with a gun. That’s when Ryan Harmon pulled out a gun and shot Edmond.

Edmond was dead before deputies arrived.

Right now, Manatee County Sheriff’s investigators said they have not filed charges against Harmon as they investigate the case as self-defense.

A woman that was inside the home during the altercation spoke with News Channel 8 Sunday afternoon.

“I called 911, I was on the phone with the police department and they were telling me to put him on his back and do things,” she said.

“All of us could've been dead, anybody could've been dead but like I said guns are the wrong way to go.”
