KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) - UPDATE: Temporary lockdown at Dobyns-Bennett High School has been lifted, according to a Kingsport City School official.

According to Andy True, Kingsport City Schools chief information officer, said the lockdown was reportedly prompted by a student finding a single bullet in a classroom. The bullet was given to a teacher and then the school's school resource officer was contacted.

A full investigation was conducted with a Kingsport Police dog, but no weapons were found. It was later determined that there was no danger.

The lockdown reportedly lasted about an hour.

----

Dobyns-Bennett High School is on a temporary lockdown, as administration handles what they are calling a "short investigation."

According to a Kingsport City School official, there is no immediate threat and students are expected to return to their regular schedule shortly.

An automated call from the principal of D-B was sent out to parents, which said the lockdown was part of a precautionary measure.

The lockdown was expected to last around 15-30 minutes and confirmed that there was no threat or danger to the students or the building.

Another automated message will be sent to parents once the lockdown has been lifted.
