ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -

A Rocky Mount man has been charged with killing his wife Saturday night, police said Monday.

Jihad Hamden, 26, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, 23-year-old Alia Odeh.

Police say officers were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Pintail Lane Saturday around 10:06 p.m. in reference to an assault.

When they arrived, they located Odeh, who had been fatally wounded. Police have not identified a cause of death or a motive.

A suspect was not at the home when officers arrived, but Hamden later turned himself in at the police department.

Hamden is being held without bond at the Nash County Jail.
