ABINGDON, VA (WJHL) - A Washington County, Va. man faces four felony charges, following a drug investigation by the Washington County, Va. Sheriff's Office.

According to a county news release, an anonymous caller contacted Washington County Central Dispatch about an overheard conversation about individuals cooking methamphetamine in one of the storage units located along Lee Highway near Bristol, VA. 

Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to the location and smelt what appeared to be a strong chemical odor coming from within an open storage unit.  Numerous ingredients used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were inside the unit. One individual was encountered near the storage unit.

Deputies made contact with Bristol, Va. resident Travis Turner, 43, 15589 Lee Highway, No. 124, near the storage unit and he was arrested.

According to the release, Turner was charged with possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture or distribute a schedule I or II controlled substance, possession of precursors with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine and conspiring to possess a schedule I or II controlled substance with the intent to manufacture or distribute.

He was taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon, where he was held without bond.

Turner is being held without bond in the Abingdon Facility of the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.

The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations assisted with the investigation.
