Shrimp Boats to be Removed from Jarvis Creek

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -

Hilton Head's Director of Public Projects and Facilities says the two abandoned shrimp boats, that have sat in Jarvis Creek since August, will be removed.

  R. L. Morrison & Sons Inc. plan to begin the project Monday afternoon when the tide is high.

  The company will begin dismantling and removing the rigging and outriggers, masts and stays on Tuesday.

Once clear, silt curtain andcontainment booms will be deployed and the removal process will commence. 

  The director says the cost to remove the boats is $157,715.00and the contract completion time is 40 days.
