Be sure to tune in to WNCN onWednesday at 11 a.m. when Band Together, the Triangle organizationthat uses music to promote social change, announces its headline act for itsbig concert in May.
Last year, Lyle Lovett performedand helped Band Together raise $852,000 for the Tammy Lynn Center.
This year, Band Together israising money for Communities in Schools of Durham and Communities in Schoolsof Wake County.
The May concert attractsthousands of music fans as Band Together looks to combine a passion for musicwith a desire to make a difference.
The concert will move to WalnutCreek Amphitheatre this year. The past two years, the benefit was hosted atKoka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary.
This year's concert is set forMay 3.
Joining the main acts will be alocal band that survives the Last Band Standing event. Last Band Standing isSaturday night at Lincoln Theatre in downtown Raleigh and features four popularlocal bands: Big Daddy Love, Jack the Radio, Onward, Soldiers; and The MorningAfter.
WNCN Today anchor Page Crawfordwill emcee Last Band Standing.
There will be $3,000 in cashprizes for the bands, and the winner gets a slot in the main spring event.
Band Together's impact hascontinued to rise each year. In 2012, Band Together raised $566,000 for UrbanMinistries when the B-52s were the headline act.
