Pirates drop fourth straight with 3-0 loss at VCU

RICHMOND, Va. -

VCU broke open a one-run game with a pair of runs in the 8th inning and beat East Carolina 3-0 on Tuesday.

The Pirates managed just five hits on the afternoon. Travis Watkins had a pair of hits in the loss.

VCU's Daniel Conception took the win, going 6 2/3 shutout innings. He gave up just three hits and struck out seven.

Tyler Bolton took the loss for the Pirates. Bolton pitched six innings, giving up just one run on five hits and five walks. He also struck out five.

The loss was the Pirate's fourth in a row. In three losses at Virginia and the loss at VCU the Pirates have managed just four runs in 36 innings.

The Pirates are back in action this weekend at home at the Keith LeClair Classic. The Pirates open the event against Western Kentucky on Friday.
