A cover story in Bloomberg's Businessweek magazine takes an lengthy look at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and theathletic scandal at the school.

The story includes extensive comments from  whistle-blower Mary Willingham, who said shedecided to go public with her concerns after the death of former UNC systempresident William Friday.

Friday, throughout his career, had concerns about the relationship between athletics and universities.

"I've sat with these kids," Willingham told Business Week."Some of them can barely read. We have to meet them where they're at and teachthem to read."

According to the story, Willingham felt there were seriousproblems in the Afro and African-American Studies program by 2005.

The story also includes comments from professor Jay Smith, aFrench history professor who has been critical of the UNC sports programs.
