Police identify pedestrians in fatal Fayetteville collision

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

The Fayetteville Police Department has identified the two pedestrians who were hit by an SUV Thursday night.

Police said a man and a woman were attempting to cross Cedar Creek Road near Bureau Drive around 7:30 p.m. when they were struck by a 2012 Kia Sorento.

Police identified the victims as Ralph Chiodo, 74, and Carol Chiodo, 72, of Lansdale, Pennsylvania.

Ralph was pronounced dead at the scene and Carol was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where she is listed in stable condition.

Police said Ralph and Carol Chiodo had just left the Ruby Tuesday's on Cedar Creek Road and were returning to the Fairfield Inn when they were struck. Police said they were not utilizing the marked crosswalk when the accident occurred.

The driver of the SUV has been identified as Robert Hardee. No one in the SUV was injured and no charges have been filed at this time.
