Elementary students tour Cherry Point Aircraft

Posted: Updated:
Almost 100 students from Brinson Memorial Elementary School toured Cherry Point air station on Tuesday.

The students, all second graders, visited Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 252's hangar where they learned about a variety of 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing assets like the AV-8B Harrier, CH-53 Super Stallion, EA-6B Prowler and KC-130J Hercules. Pilots and maintainers were on hand to share stories and answer the children's questions about their experiences as Marine aviators.

After visiting the hangar and flight line, students toured Cherry Point's Provost Marshal's office and learned about the vehicles and facilities used by military police, as well as the roles and services they provide the Cherry Point community.

Brinson Memorial Elementary School is in New Bern. Many children who participated in the tour have parents that work at Cherry Point.
