Duke football caps off spring with Blue-White game

DURHAM, N.C. -

Duke finished up its Spring on Saturday with a spiritedBlue-White game at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Quarterback BrandonConnette completed 11-of-16 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns tolead Blue past White, 24-14.

Connette connected for touchdowns with Ryan Smith on a 10yard catch and a 37 yard competition to Max McCaffery.

Duke's offensive players believe they are picking up rightwhere they left following the Blue Devil's heartbreaking 52-48 loss to TexasA&M in the Chick-fil-a Bowl.

"We started early, probably the only team to start thisearly and finish this early. So, it gives us a great time to be in the weightroom, out on the field, get quality work and work on your craft," runningback Josh Snead said .

The White team was led by sophomore quarterback Thomas Sirk, who completed  12 of his 28 throws for 83 yards. Sirk alsorushed 19 times for 30 yards and two touchdowns, according to stats released bythe University.

On the defensiveside of the ball, Corbin McCarthy totaled eight tackles while ends Jordan DeWalt-Ondijo and Dezmond Johnson finished two sacksapiece, according to the University.

"Coach Cut said it perfectly at the end, ‘The sun isshining down on Duke football right now,' and that's the way we feel,"said linebacker Kelby Brown.

The Blue Devils open the 2014 season at home against Elon onAug. 30.
