New DMV changes aim to reduce wait times

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - DMV officials are discussing several new changes to reduce the congestion and wait times at North Carolina DMV offices.

One proposed change would allow those people with a valid drivers license in another state to forgo taking the written or road test to receive a North Carolina license. This would only be an option for drivers with a good drivers record.

Some motorists say that, although these changes would help, going to the DMV is something they try to avoid.

"I hate going there," said Ray Smith. "I've just learnt how to do things online, so I do everything online now just to avoid going there."
