Three For The Show: Hillcrest Boys, Greenwood And St. Joe's Girls Prepare For State Finals

Posted: Updated:
SPARTANBURG, S.C - Three area high school basketball teams try to bring home state titles this weekend.

The St. Joe's girls chase the 1A crown for the first time in three years when they take on Latta Saturday at 11am at Columbia's Colonial Life Arena.

St. Joe's held off Lamar, 43-35, this past Saturday in Greenville to advance.  The Lady Knights started the season 0-6.

Greenwood's girls look to pull of an upset against two-time defending 4A champ Dutch Fork Friday night in Columbia.  The Lady Eagles defeated Dorman in the upper state final this past Friday in Greenville, rallying from a 12-point halftime deficit and getting past a team that had knocked them out of the playoffs the previous two seasons.  The Lady Eagles last brought home a state crown in 1996, when they completed a run of consecutive titles.

Greenwood and Dutch Fork tip-off Friday at 7pm.  That games is followed by Hillcrest against Wando in the 4A boys championship game.  The Rams seek the school's first state championship since 1995 and got here by upsetting Irmo last Friday, 53-51.

Wando, the state's largest school, is playing for a state crown for the first time.
