Winter weather leading to layoffs

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - A new study by the advocacy group Small Business Majority finds one in five small businesses in North Carolina were forced to lay off workers during the extreme winter weather.

Wayne Perrini, owner of Wayne's Painting, Inc. says his business has been struggling because he can't schedule any outside painting jobs.

"16 years I've been in business. It's never been this bad," Wayne Perrini said about the winter weather this year.

Jim Menees, owner of Signs Now, hasn't had a slowdown in his business, but he has several jobs on hold because of the winter weather.

"Waiting for the sun to shine," Menees said.
