Deputies, SBI continue investigation into fatal stabbing

WILLIAMSTON - Deputies and the SBI say they're continuing their investigation into a fatal Williamston stabbing.

It happened just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

"It was a 911 call,” said Sheriff Dan Gibbs, Martin County. “They called and said somebody had been stabbed at this residence and the person who was stabbed is deceased."

The Martin County Sheriff's Office says the woman who placed the 911 call for a fatal stabbing early Wednesday morning told dispatchers her boyfriend had died from self-inflicted stab wounds. He's identified as 28-year-old Jason Michael Donaldson.

What happened at the trailer home on Prison Camp Road, across from Henry Mizelle Road, has families who live nearby in shock.

"We know everybody three or four houses down this way and that way,” said Kyle Meeks, who lives nearby. “Everybody is pretty close and we know each other pretty good."

He says he never met the people who live there but knows of them.

"Every time I go by they're going by to work and everything,” he added. “There's a lot of cars up there but not a whole lot. They were kind of more closed in people."

The Martin County Sheriff's Office and agents from the SBI spent much of the morning searching through the home.

"It's always a concern for the Sheriff of any kind of when there is somebody deceased like that,” said Gibbs. “It's terrible on the family and in the community."

According to the Sheriff's Office, the death is still under investigation.
