No one hurt when milk truck catches fire in NC

Posted: Updated:

HAW RIVER, N.C. (AP) - No one was hurt when a milk truck caught fire on Interstates 40 and 85 in Alamance County.

The Haw River Fire Department was called shortly before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday after the truck driver pulled over when he discovered his trig was on fire.

The fire closed all but one of the eastbound lanes for nearly an hour.

A spokesman for Continental Express Inc. said the company is not sure what caused the fire. Bill Maurer said it might have been caused by a brake lockup.

The driver disconnected the trailer from the cab.

Assistant Fire Chief Jamie Joseph said some of the firefighters were covered in milk that leaked from the melting cartons.
