Man arrested for Greenville car break-ins

GREENVILLE, N.C. - A Greenville man was arrested Thursday night and charged for a series of car break-ins.

21-year-old Keontae Ward faces 49 charges for car break-ins in the
in the Bellamy and Kittrell Farms area.

The Greenville Police Department has been investigating more than 20 car break-ins in that area since September. Ward was caught on surveillance video at the Food Lion on East 10th Street in December.

Detectives say he used a stolen check to purchase a pack of cigarettes and get $50 in cash. The check was stolen from a vehicle parked in the Kittrell Farms subdivision.

Ward is charged with Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle, Obtaining Property by False Pretense, Financial Card Theft, Larceny, and Possession of Stolen Goods. He has an extensive criminal history including
motor vehicle Breaking and Enterings and Larceny.

Ward is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond.
