Local Lions Club raises money for charities

Posted: Updated:
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - The Lions Club of Jacksonville held a oyster and barbeque dinner for the 5th year in a row to raise money for their charities.

Organizers say the Lions Club primarily raises money to help the visually and hearing impaired.

Organizers say the event continues to grow every year. This year, they were hoping to raise at least $5,000.

"The motto of the lions is 'we serve.' Our main purpose is to serve our community through various projects that we do," said Jim Wayne, one of the organizers.
