2 Charlotte men arrested with 44 pounds of pot

WASHINGTON, N.C. - Two Charlotte men are accused of trafficking marijuana in Beaufort County after deputies seized about 44 pounds of pot during an investigation.
Deputies arrested and charged 43-year-old Jose Luis Ortiz and 29-year-old Eduardo Alberto Rosales on March 9 with Trafficking in Marijuana by Possession, Trafficking in Marijuana by Transportation and Conspiracy to Traffic in Marijuana.  Rosales was additionally charged with Maintaining a Vehicle to Facilitate Drug Activity.  

Their arrests stem from an investigation into a large quantity of marijuana being dealt from a home in Beaufort County. When deputies conducted a traffic stop on a white work van operated by Rosales and Ortiz, they say they found, with the help of K-9 Elza, several pounds of compressed marijuana stuffed into a child’s booster seat.  Deputies say they also found numerous wooden plaque containing compressed bricks of marijuana.

Both Rosales and Ortiz were placed  in the Beaufort County Detention Center under $100,000 bonds.
