EMS volunteers accuse station president of mismanagement

Posted: Updated:
NEW BERN, N.C. - Current and former members of the Township Seven EMS station are accusing station management of failing to maintain ambulances and mismanaging finances.

"With the way it is being run, it will leave the citizens of this district without EMS coverage," a former volunteer said.

The former volunteer and a current volunteer said the ambulances are poorly maintained, and the station never has enough money to fix the ambulances.

This led to 14 current and former members to file complaints with the North Carolina Auditor's Office.

As a result of the complaints, the Office of Emergency Services inspected the station's ambulances Monday.

Station president Charles Rose said the ambulances passed the inspection. He also said his station's finances are audited, and most of the complaints came from disgruntled former employees.

Rose wouldn't go on-camera to discuss the accusations.

The Office of Emergency Services wouldn't comment on any pending or active investigations.
