Mobile Man's Conviction Back in Child Deaths

Posted: Updated:
A Mobile man is again facing a death sentence over his four children being thrown off a bridge in Mobile County.
The Alabama Court of Criminal had reversed Lam Luong's capital murder convictions for the 2008 deaths. But the Alabama Supreme Court ruled 5-3 Friday that the lower court decision was wrong.
The Court of Criminal Appeals had held that the pretrial publicity was prejudicial and that the trial court erred in denying defense attorneys funds to travel to Vietnam, where Luong grew up. The Supreme Court disagreed with both of those findings.
Luong was convicted of throwing the four children off the Dauphin Island Bridge into the water 100 feet below on Jan. 7, 2008. The children ranged in age from 4 months to nearly 4 years old.
