MPD Officer Shoots 2 Dogs, Killing 1

Posted: Updated:
MOBILE, Alabama -

Mobile Police were in the area of Murphy High School Friday afternoon looking for multiple suspects when an officer entered someone's property.

Mobile Police aren't giving any details as to who they were looking for or why, but the homeowners say they had no idea authorities were on their property until they looked out a back window.

The homeowner tells News 5 he saw an officer pointing a gun at one of his dogs. According to the homeowner, the dog barked and the officer fired multiple shots killing it. The officer then shot a second dog, but he is recovering at a local vet.

The homeowners are upset that the animals were shot and are wondering why police entered their fenced-in backyard without permission.

News 5's Blake Brown is looking into this story and will have the latest on News 5 at 5, 6 and 10 p.m.
