Luck of the Irish Cook-Off: Good Food, Great Time

Mobile, AL -

Hundreds took part in the annual Luck of the Irish cook-off Saturday morning in Bienville Square.

It is the 13th year for the event, featuring 11 teams this year. Each team competed and cooked their best Irish stew or corned beef and cabbage.

Organizers say this year was another success.

"We'll probably see about 1000 people through here. We're just trying to get the word out. Everybody wants to help their family get better only when they need it to get better, they don't want to start it off, so were trying to get the awareness out there to people and try to get their families better on the front end of things," says chairman Michael Fillers.

All proceeds go to the Family Center of Mobile, which was started 22 years ago. The center teaches anger management classes and other programs that are designed to benefit families across the Mobile area.
