NC legislators to learn about Medicaid reform plan

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. - Legislators will hear from officials of Gov. Pat McCrory's health agency on their plan to reform Medicaid.

Leaders of the state Department of Health and Human Services will hold a news conference Monday in Raleigh about the plan they'll share with legislators.

In February, DHHS officials presented proposals to reform the state's $13 billion Medicaid program to an advisory group set up by McCrory and lawmakers to get feedback, and the plan presented Monday is expected to have more details.

Legislators will decide when they convene in May whether to endorse the reform plan, modify it or do nothing. Federal officials also must sign off on it.

Officials say a revamp could begin taking effect as early as July 2015.
