Man arrested for robbing ex-wife at LaGrange store

KINSTON, N.C. - Deputies say they've arrested a man for robbing his ex-wife at a LaGrange store.

It happened Friday morning at the Mallards Food Shop on US 70 west.

31-year-old William Harper of Kinston is charged with Robbery with a dangerous weapon, Second Degree Kidnapping, and violating a domestic violence order after deputies say he showed up a the store and attempted to kidnap his ex-wife while brandishing a black and silver object and demanding money from the register. They add that Harper, allegedly, also threatened to kill the woman. He fled the scene on a stolen vehicle after obtaining money from the store.

Deputies located Harper in northern Lenoir County and arrested him.  Harper reportedly told investigators that he used the money to purchase crack cocaine. 

He was placed under a $1,001,500 dollar bond.
