Thomas Jane, Bruce Willis In Town for ‘Vice’

Posted: Updated:

Along with director Brian Miller, who also directed 'The Prince'--the other Bruce Willis movie shot here in town, we also got to talk with producer Randall Emmett, and co stars Ambyr Childers and Thomas Jane, who you might remember from the movie 'The Punisher' and 'Boogie Nights'.

During a news conference Monday night, Miller told us Mobile is a perfect setting this movie. Vice is about a resort that offers its wealthy clients the chance to live out their fantasies, until one of the staff members decides to seek revenge.

"This is a science fiction action film and Mobile has such an eclectic feel to it, so we were able to, in certain parts of the city, create a very dystopian vision of the future. And it's really one of the primary reasons we brought the film back here was because of the locations," says Miller.

They couldn't say enough about how nice everyone in the community had been, including, jokingly, the police…

"The police have been extremely nice to everybody, I've been here four days and I haven't been arrested once!" says actor Thomas Jane.

Alabama offers extremely competitive incentives, a 25% tax cut, which is a major draw for producer Randall Emmett.

"You know it starts with the independents, and then word of mouth spreads and then you get the big studio movies in," says Emmett.

And it sounds like the stars have already fallen in love with the local cuisine.

"I found my panini's! Found my panini's, Pete's Panini's!" says actress Ambyr Childers.

"I'd like to recommend Ed's Seafood Shed! And the oysters are good, but I'm from Maryland so we get our oysters out of the Chesapeake Bay, but I say these come in at a close second!" says Jane.

And chances are good these folks will be back in the near future.

"This community has embraced us, they've taken care of us and tit for tat in return we try to bring them into the film as much as we can," says Miller.

While the crew was not allowed to tell us specifically where they'll be filming, we can tell you they will stick to the downtown Mobile area.

They've been here for about five weeks, they just started shooting this week and will continue for three more weeks.

They are always looking for extras. You can email your height, weight and a picture to ViceExtras@Gmail.com.
