Local teen competing for state Youth of the Year award

WINTERVILLE, N.C. - A local teen is gearing up to compete for a state title and scholarship.

In February, Conrad Hunter was named Pitt County Boys& Girls Club Youth of the Year. It’s the highest honor given by the club.

Hunter received this award in recognition of his commitment to academics, leadership, and giving back to the community.

Hunter serves as Keystone Vice President, has organized food drives for Joy soup kitchen, and has spent time volunteering at the Golden Living Center.

Hunter credits the Boys& Girls club and his family for helping him attain this award.  

“Never give up. Just keep going to your goals. If you have goal for your life don't stop, don't let bad influences, choose your path," said Hunter.

On March 28th. Hunter will head to Greensboro to compete against dozens of club members for the state title. . If Hunter wins the state title he could win as much as $10,000 and compete for the National Youth of the Year award in Washington D.C.
