Students Gather to Remember Beloved USA Student

Posted: Updated:
Students at the University of South Alabama gathered around Moulton Tower tonight to remember their friend and classmate, Christopher Thomas. Thomas died Saturday morning in his dorm room.

Majoring in political science, he was an active campus leader and a member of Jaguar Productions. He even volunteered on Congressman, Bradley Byrne's, campaign last year. News 5 caught up with Congressman Byrne today before the vigil.

"He was a volunteer worker on our campaign... we had several college students from the University of South Alabama. He was one of the main ones, just a terrific young man... always had a smile on his face. People loved him, loved being around him. He was a great worker... very dedicated to his community and his country. So, a tremendous loss for our community."

Funeral arrangements for Christopher Thomas will be held this Saturday, March 22nd, at the Northview Christian Church beginning at 11 a.m. A fundraiser is underway to help the family pay for funeral expenses. If you'd like to donate, please click on the link provided in this article.
