Florence nurse arrested for stealing drugs, authorities say

Posted: Updated:

Lorrie Ulmer, 45, of Florence, was arrested Wednesday for several drug charges.

The arrest warrant from the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) states she stole oxycodone from Carolina Hospitals where she is a registered nurse. The warrant indicates the drugs were issued to a patient, but instead of dispensing them to that patient, she took them for her own personal use.

Ulmer has been released from the Florence County Detention Center.

Carolinas Hospital System issued this statement:

The hospital is aware that a former employee has been arrested. The individual is no longer working at the hospital. This matter is being taken very seriously and the hospital is cooperating with the authorities. Because this matter remains under investigation by law enforcement, the hospital has no additional information to provide.
