Jury Finds Football Star Not Guilty

Posted: Updated:
BAY MINETTE, Alabama -      A jury finds a former high school football star in Baldwin County not guilty of rape.
Deon Johnson was accused of raping a 15-year- old girl back in 2012. The girl testified the rape happened in a bathroom stall at a park in Spanish Fort.
It took jurors around three hours to reach the verdict. Prosecutor Teresa Heinz is disappointed with the trial outcome.
Johnson is not a free man just yet. He returned to the Baldwin County Jail, because he faces two more rape cases. Johnson's attorney says he will ask a judge to set bond, but prosecutors say they will fight that request. The jury was made up of eight men and four women.
