NC Attorney General responds to governor run speculation

Posted: Updated:
BETHEL, N.C. - North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper hinted he might soon announce a run for governor in 2016.

After his anti-drug presentation at North Pitt High School Wednesday, he addressed speculation he'll go head-to-head to unseat Gov. Pat McCrory in the next election.

“I’m very concerned about the direction that our state is headed,” Cooper said. “I love my job as attorney general and I’m going to do that job every day. It's too early for an official announcement but I am making plans right now to do that at some point."

Cooper would not elaborate on exactly when we can expect his formal declaration.
