RALEIGH, N.C. -

Raleigh police confirmed a 3-year-old girl drowned in a bathtub Thursday afternoon at an apartment on St. Giles Street.

Police said Skye McLeod and a younger sibling were left alone briefly in a tub. McLeod was found unconscious when the caregiver returned to the bathroom, police said.

The girl was transported to Rex Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police said.
