A small plane crashes in the Outer Banks

KILL DEVIL HILLS, NC - The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a small plane crash in the Outer Banks. 

Cyndy Holda with the National Park Service says the crash happened just before 11a.m. on Sunday. Holda says a small single engine plane, was attempted to land when it crashed into a wooded area near the Wright Brother National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills. 

Holda says the  pilot and another passenger walked away from the crash. The two were able to seek help from a nearby house. Holda says both were transported to The Outer Banks Hospital. Holda says the pilot did suffer a head injury and was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
