1 arrested in Henderson gas station murder

HENDERSON, N.C. -

Police have arrested one of the two suspects in a fatal shooting Monday night at a BP gas station in Henderson.

Daiquan Jameek Waddell, 18, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the murder of 55-year-old Ahmed Shahit, who was shot Monday during a robbery at the BP gas station located at 615 Raleigh Rd.

Waddell is charged with one count each of first degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and second degree kidnapping in connection with the shooting and robbery.

Police are still searching for a second suspect in the shooting.

Police also charged Waddell with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon in regards to the robbery reported at the Raleigh Road Convenient Mart on March 11; a second count of robbery with a dangerous weapon at the Waffle House located 942 W. Andrews Ave. on March 13; and a third count of robbery with a dangerous weapon at the same Waffle House on March 18.

Waddell was placed in the Vance County Jail without bond.
