Ayden-Grifton coach will stay

Posted: Updated:
AYDEN, N.C. - Ayden-Grifton's Paul Cornwell was offered the St James High School job in South Carolina but has decided to stay at home.

Cornwell was 13-2 in 2011 and this past year led his team all the way back from an 0-6 start to the playoffs. He says he was offered the job at St James but turned it down this morning. Cornwell played his high school football at Ayden-Grifton and has been a coach in Pitt County for over 20 years. He says, in the end, staying in his home town with his support system around him was the deciding factor.

We have an interview with Coach Cornwell tonight at 5 and 6 here on 9 On Your Side!
