Camp Lejeune Cpl. arrested for felony child abuse

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - Police arrested a Camp Lejeune Corporal for felony child abuse Wednesday.

Jacksonville police took 21-year-old Zachary Marshall Hawkins into custody April 2.

First Lieutenant Philip Kulczewski says Hawkins is a Corporal from Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, and is in the Onslow County Detention Center for two counts of infant child abuse.


First Lieutenant Kulczewski says they are taking the situation extremely seriously and they’re cooperation fully with local authorities.

  The incident is under investigation by the Jacksonville Police Department.

Details on the circumstances surrounding his arrest or bond information weren't immediately available.
