Jacksonville man charged in Econo Lodge armed robbery

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - A Jacksonville man is behind bars, accused of armed robbery at the Econo Lodge on North Marine Boulevard.

23-year-old Wendell Nickolas Williams is charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon in the incident which happened April 3. He was taken into custody without incident.  

Officers say they responded to the motel last Thursday around 1:30 p.m. after an armed man entered the business, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money.  The subject then fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.   The clerk wasn’t injured in the robbery.

Williams is in the Onslow County Jail under a secured bond.
