DURHAM, N.C. -

Durham police said three people were arrested after shots were fired Thursday in the parking lot of Northgate Mall.

Police said an off-duty sheriff’s deputy responded to a disturbance at the mall around 4 p.m.

Police said the disturbance was from gunshots in the parking lot. The deputy chased and caught a male suspect, police said.

Durham police confirmed no one was injured in the incident but one vehicle was damaged.

Devonte Keith, 20, of Glenbrook Drive was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, discharging a firearm within the city limits, carrying a concealed weapon, going armed to the terror of the public and resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer, police said.

Alvis Gentry, 19, and Gerald Melvin, 27, were arrested on outstanding warrants by Durham police during the incident, authorities said.
