Kinston High gets powerful Prom Night warning

Posted: Updated:
Kinston Police and Fire partnered with Kinston High School to create a powerful warning for high school students headed from prom.

The departments created an accident site to demonstrate what departments have to do when responding to a fatal car wreck. The fire department cut a victim from a vehicle as students overheard what an accident victim would be thinking during extraction.

The real life visualization is aimed at reminding high schoolers to think twice before getting behind the wheel of a car while impaired.

“We want them to see that real tragedy can happen. Whether you're drinking and driving, texting and driving, potentially getting involved in any type of illegal substance and getting under the wheel of the car” said Angela Bryant, Kinston High School Principal.

Kinston Public Safety Fire & Rescue as well as Law Enforcement created two separate scenes throughout the afternoon for students to experience.
