Police arrest two men on felony drug charges

BETHEL, N.C. - A special operation initiative by the Bethel Police Department leads to the arrests of two accused drug dealers.

Police arrested 27-year-old Miles Lovett, Jr. and 44-year-old Tracy Beckwith, both of Hamilton, on Saturday night. The men were stopped in a vehicle containing felonious amounts of controlled substances including marijuana and cocaine around 9:30 p.m. at the corner of Lewis Street and Main Street.

Lovett was driving the vehicle. He is charged with Conspiring to Sell/Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance; Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine; Carrying a Concealed Weapon; Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell and or Deliver a Controlled Substance; Maintain a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substance; Possessing Marijuana up to 1/2 oz. and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Beckwith is charged with Possession with Intent to Manufacture Sell and Deliver a Scheduled II Controlled Substance; Conspire to Sell/Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance; and Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana.

Both men are being held at the Pitt County Detention Center. Lovett is under a $51,000 bond and Beckwith is under a $21,000 bond.

During the Bethel Police Department’s special operation, two other arrests were made for misdemeanor traffic violations. Police say multiple citations were given for traffic infractions.
