Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd confirms South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and Horry County Police are conducting an aerial search Thursday of the Great Pee Dee River for clues in the murder of Angie Pipkin.
The SLED helicopter will start in the Pee Dee and follow it until Georgetown and back again. Saturday the CUE center will assist authorities in the search. The Cashua Ferry Landing will be closed to the public Saturday morning.
The Aynor woman went missing in January. An Horry County man originally charged with obstruction in the case is now behind bars charged with murder.
According to the arrest warrant, it's believed Randy Gale Robinson killed her and disposed of her dismembered body at 34 Landing in Darlington County.
Robinson, of Murrells Inlet, was previously arrested and charged with obstruction of justice after police say he gave them "misleading information" in Pipkin's case.
Pipkin, a mother of two, was last seen on Jan. 16 when she was spotted getting into a car at the IGA on Main Street of Aynor, officials say.
Later she was seen on security cameras at about 9:30 p.m. at the Wilco Food Mart at 6222 Highway 707, Myrtle Beach.
