DURHAM, N.C. -

Durham Police are looking for a man refused to stop at a traffic stop and then carjacked a vehicle at a McDonald’s.

The incident began at 9:15 p.m. Thursday night when an officer attempted to make a traffic stop on Liberty Street near Railroad Street, Durham Police said.

The driver, identified as Kenneth Bailey Jr., 21, of Durham, refused to stop and drove the wrong way on Liberty Street before crashing near Morgan Street and Mangum Street. Two females and a child in the vehicle were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

Police said Bailey jumped out and ran to McDonald’s on Morgan Street where he stole a vehicle from the parking lot. The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later on Hargrove Street.

Charges are currently pending against Bailey. He is not in custody at this time.
