Onslow deputies search pond in homicide investigation

HOLLY RIDGE, N.C. - Deputies in Onslow County are looking for the murder weapon used in the county's first homicide of the year.

9 On Your Side was on the scene Thursday afternoon as investigators and a dive team searched a pond in Holly Ridge. It's near the intersection of Old Folkstone Road and Highway 17 South. Sheriff Ed Brown called off the search for the day around 6 p.m. No weapon was recovered.
60-year-old Elmer Hudler was found shot to death in his bed at his home Monday afternoon.

Deputies arrested 29-year-old William Parker around Midnight Wednesday. He's charged with Hudler's murder.
Hudler was the owner of HRS Mechanical Contractors, a heating and air conditioning company in Sneads Ferry.

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office tells 9 On Your Side, deputies have arrested a man in the county's first murder of 2014.

Detectives arrested 29-yr.-old William Zachary Parker around midnight Wednesday for the murder of Elmer Lee Hudler.

Sheriff Ed Brown says a death was reported around 3:30 Monday afternoon on Stone Creek Road in Holly Ridge.

Deputies say 60-year-old Hudler was found dead in his bed with a gunshot wound.

The Sheriff's office says District Attorney Ernie Lee and his office assisted in the case.
