Hoffman to miss two starts with arm soreness

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Pirate pitcher Jeff Hoffman will miss his next two starts with a sore arm.

Hoffman was honored this week as the NCBWA pitcher of the week last week after his 16 strike out performance against Middle Tennessee on Friday. Hoffman allowed only three hits and walked just one batter in the Pirates 1-0 win over the Blue Raiders.

According to sources close to the program Hoffman complained of arm soreness after his scheduled bullpen session on Wednesday. The move is believed to be a precautionary measure and Hoffman is expected back after missing the two starts.

Tyler Bolton will start for the Pirates in Friday's first game of the series against Florida Atlantic. Brett Mabry will start game two. The third game starter will be determined later in the weekend.
