There are new details in a story out of Greene County, where deputies are searching for a shooter.

Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith says 49-year-old Linwood Jones was shot and killed on North 7th Street in Hookerton just before 10 o'clock last night.

Jones was apparently in an argument with two people, when he ran away from them, and one of them shot him in the back.
Deputies are not sure at this time if Jones personally knew those people.
The suspects took off and Jones made his way to the back porch of a house across the street.
The homeowner called for help but Jones died by the time authorities got there.

"My wife and son told me they heard gun shots,” the homeowner said. “And I came out and he was laying there on the porch."

Sheriff Smith says he believes it's the first murder in Hookerton in five years.
Right now, deputies are searching for the two suspects. Their identities are not known at this time.

"It appears to be an isolated event at this time,” said Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith. “I don't believe anyone is in danger. But everyone needs to be aware of what's going on."

If you know anything about the case, call the Greene County Sheriff's Office.
