Warsaw Police officer fired after drug-related arrest

TRENTON, N.C. - A Warsaw Police officer has been fired after being arrested by the SBI and FBI following an undercover drug investigation performed by the Jones County Sheriff's Office.

Jones County deputies said 33-year-old officer Lacy Ward was arrested around 4:30 p.m. Thursday and is being charged with two felony counts of conspiracy to sell or deliver a schedule two controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of obstructing justice.

The Jones County Sheriff's Office said Ward helped James Parker III sell 19 pills of Oxycodone to an undercover deputy. Deputies contacted the SBI after they identified Ward as a police officer.

Deputies said they are still looking for Parker.

Warsaw Police said they fired Parker after reviewing the charges with the SBI. They tell us she had been an officer with the Warsaw Police Department for about eight years.

Ward's first court appearance is set for Friday. She is in the Jones County jail under $250,000 bond.
